Chapter 4
Daniel didn't meet her eyes. He knew that if he did, he too would break down.
"Michelle," he whispered again. "I-"
She didn't wait for him to finish. Grabbing his face and twisting it roughly
until he was forced to look at her, she hissed, "Don't sweet Michelle me
again, Mr.Jones! I want to know what the fucking hell is wrong with you and I
want to know NOW!" Her steely cold eyes were fueled with fire. Just what
was going through his mind anyway?
"I-I..." he stammered, then pulled away from her grip.
"Michelle, you're hurting me!" He wanted to die right this very
minute, this moment just seemed so surreal to him. Seeing his beloved Michelle
looking so broken....I caused her pain. I don't deserve her.
"Daniel!!" she almost screamed with fury as he simply stared
woodenly at her. "Did Darren get you in the head too?! Because you've
bloody well changed since that incident with him....tell me, why have you been
ignoring me? Why don't you talk to me anymore? God dammit, what's wrong with
you?!"
What's wrong with you, what's wrong with you, what's wrong with
you....over and over it played in his mind, like a cassette tape rewinding
incessantly. His chaotic thoughts were all a blur, the confusion and anguish in
his mind was almost too much to bear. Michy, Michy, my princess Michy....I
love you....
Just then the door opened and Oliver appeared. He heard Michelle's last words
and stopped in front of them, an awkward expression on his face.
"Oh! Um, so sorry, didn't know-um, well, I better be off now!" he
spluttered as he turned away. Michelle shot him a dirty look, then as soon as
the door closed shut behind him, she turned to the blond guitarist again.
"Answer me!" she demanded, tears springing to her eyes.
"Daniel, for heaven's sake, speak, say something at least!" She was
beginning to feel scared by his apparent lack of emotion. Or anything, for that
matter. It didn't seem like he was feeling, at least.
But he was. Oh inside, he was sobbing helplessly, only he didn't want to show
it. Understand I would rather die than to hurt you.... but he was already
hurting her, it was slicing her heart in two. Memories flew into his mind
of him and her together, all the good times they treasured, the love and passion
they shared....do you really want to throw it all away? Do you? And for what?
Yes, that was the main question. For what? Why did he feel different
now?
****
1.27 a.m.
Daniel's eyes were wide open. The hospital around him was deathly silent. Not
even the nurses working on night shifts made a single noise. Nothing stirred in
the darkness. Everyone seemed to be sensibly fast asleep.
Except him. He couldn't sleep. He couldn't eat. Hell, he couldn't even
think straight anymore. After what happened with Michelle yesterday....
he shut his eyes tight.
You love her. You love her and you're going to marry her. And that's
that.
But why was it so hard to comprehend that notion anymore? Why did he feel so
empty about it, why couldn't he feel the same as before?
Because of HIM, stupid. That's bloody why.
He sucked in his breath quickly. "Shut up," he whispered to no-one
in particular. But the thought had seized him and it wasn't letting him go that
easily. He opened his eyes wide again. No. I do not love him. I love her.
Turning over his on his side, he firmly shut his eyes again to drift off into
a fitful, dreamless sleep.
Chapter 5
Darren looked at his watch again. It was ten o'clock on dry, hot morning. He
took a sip of his coffee and settle back into his couch.
It was two days after the incident, and today was the day Daniel was finally
allowed to go home. Thank the Lord he's alright. He stopped and
suppressed a bitter laugh. Geez, is that the only reason why you're thankful,
Daz? Get a grip.
He hadn't visit him at all in hospital. Not that he didn't want to - he
didn't dare to. After all, anything could have happened. And what if Daniel
hated even the mere sight of him after what he'd done to him? It's better I
don't see you as much now, Jonesy. It's back to the "Avoid The Daniel"
game, just as before. He pressed his lips nervously together. The only thing
that unruffled him was that Daniel would certainly be more hurt than ever.
Didn't they just make up forty-eight hours ago? I'm sorry. It hurts, but it
protects you. You're strong enough to get over it, trust me.
A sudden knock on the door jolted him out of his daze. He quickly stood up
and went to open it.
It was John, their former manager. He was one of the very first people who
encouraged Savage Garden to go on in those early years when no-one else battered
an eyelash at them. If it weren't for his help and enthusiasiam, Darren doubt
they'd be where they were right now.
But he wasn't in the mood to socialize with anyone at the moment, not when he
had a feeling today was going to be an explosive one. He smiled at the
friendly-faced, grey-haired man uneasily. "Hey John, what brings you
here?"
John grinned his toothy grin, but the corners of his mouth faltered just a
little. "Just to see how you were going, that's all," he answered back
warmly. He examined the dark-haired singer closely. "I hear Daniel's
released today from the hospital," he added quietly. Obviously it wasn't
exactly the easiest topic to chat casually about. "Are you going to see him
soon?"
"Yes, of course...." he replied carefully in a slow measured tone.
"I'll be leaving in a few minutes to pop over to his house."
John eyed him again and Darren squirmed slightly under his scrutinizing
stare. What's his problem? he thought to himself, suddenly annoyed.
Why does he keep looking at me like that?
He cleared his throat. "Um John, is that all you wanted to
know?"
The older man turned away for a second, then looked deep into his eyes. There
was something else.
"Everyone's been so worried about you, Darren," he finally said in
a low voice. "You've changed so much.... and it seems to be very much to do
with Daniel, isn't it? And Daniel seems to be...." He stopped abruptly and
breathed in. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't poke my face in your private
businesses, it's-"
"No, John it's alright," Darren replied hurriedly, his heart was
racing. "But tell me, Daniel seems to be what?" How is he, how did
he react, how is he coping?
John shifted uncomfortably on one foot to the other. "I don't really
know, but when I visited him yesterday, he didn't seem,er, quite the
same."
Darren's brow crinkled in concern. "Huh? What do you mean?"
Poor John looked even more uneasy than ever. "Listen, it was nothing
really, he was still in some pain and-"
"John, tell me! What's wrong with Daniel ?"
"Alright, alright, calm down will you?" John snapped, flashing his
eyes at him. Darren felt his face flush red. He hadn't even realized his was
starting to shout. "I'm sorry John, but you've got me all worried now, so
you have to tell me. What's up with him?"
John swallowed. "Well, don't take this too personally, but when I
questioned him about you, he, erm, said some very uncharitable things."
"....Like what?"
"Said you didn't bother to see him at all because you couldn't leave the
mirror at home. He seemed to be pretty bitter about it. And he also said he
could've done better that night, he would have put you in hospital instead of
him, only you got to him first in the groin."
Darren was speechless for a moment. Finally he found his voice. "He
really said those things about me? Why? I said I was sorry...!" He was
clearly hurt. Very hurt.
"Yes, I know, I'm sure he was just really tired and irritated....I don't
think he meant any of it," John reassured him. He noticed the singer
looking very downcasted indeed. "Hey, I'm sorry...I didn't want to tell
you, you know."
"No." Darren shook his head. "I need to know." He
looked at him expressionlessly. "I'm gonna go over to his place now. I need
to know what the hell's going on with him."
"Alright. I'll catch ya later, okay?" John patted him on the arm.
"Take care, eh?"
"I will, I will." He turned and locked the door behind him, before
wordlessly brushing past the older man to his car.
Darren pressed the accelerator hard underneath his black, leather boots. He
turned the steering wheel around to another corner. Just when I thought
things couldn't get worse....it damn well does! He was desperate to
find out why Daniel made those cruel comments about him. Why? Why? Even
though probably he deserved every bit of contempt from Daniel, he thought
they had made up already.... weren't they on good terms before? So why, all of a
sudden, he was like this now?
As the car sped up the main highway, he sighed inwardly. For the past
dramatic few days, it had been hard keeping his feelings to himself. A sensitive
and emotional soul he was, he was careful to always shield his vulnerable side.
But this.... this problem with Daniel was pushing him at his tether.
Never before had such intense tension grew between them.
That's because nothing like this has ever happened. Not until you started
it.
"Oh be quiet," he hissed audibly to himself. That annoying little
voice in his head.... god, he wanted to wrung the life out of it. Here you go
again, my dear Darren, talking mentally to yourself. Gee, shouldn't you see a
doctor?
Yes, it was hopeless alright.
He slowed the car as he went up the familiar road. Betony Crest Road, Meadow
Lakes. It was nice place to live, though not as posh and expensive as where his
house was, but nevertheless considered one of Brisbane's top suburbs as well. A
white-bricked mansion with elegant black iron railings gradually came into view.
A picture of a very well-to-do person living there. Ah yes, Daniel's home. He
had good taste too.
Chapter 6
"Let me kiss you all over...."
"Oooh, who's a naughty boy then?"
Michelle giggled as Daniel bit the cloth of her top hungrily. "I want
you," he smiled seductively at her. He was relieved she forgave him about
the argument they had the other day. It was all too easy saying he was just
tired and wasn't feeling himself. But you're lying Danny boy.... you're lying
through your pretty teeth, and you know it....
Oh shut up. Just shut up.
He wanted to forget about everything. Only the warmth and scent of her soft,
womanly flesh in his arms, draped over his luxurious king-size bed with him. Her
tangled hair was all over his chest, and he breathed it in deeply. How delicious
she smelt, how wonderously succulent.
He proceeded to take off every stitch of her clothing and soon her own
roaming silk fingers were also slipping off his. "I love you, my beautiful
blond one," she whispered, breathing heavily as his boxers and underpants
came sliding down. She began to kiss his chest all the way down, leaving a hot,
wet trail behind.
Daniel lay back, softly moaning to himself. He knew what she wanted to do....
it was his special treat. As she slowly spread his legs apart, he closed his
eyes, the fire between his legs was almost painful if it wasn't to be soothed
soon.... he needed release, and he felt his muscles involuntarily tightened as
his body quivered under her touch. "Ohhhh.... ohhhh.... " he murmered,
gripping the bedsheets or anything that was worth holding onto.
"Oh-oh!" He started to thrash madly around as he felt her tongue first
teasingly touch him, then roughly take him to the back of her throat with
frenized passion. She giggled softly to herself, Daniel was so ripe and juicy
and so damn delicious. It was hilarious to see him so worked up like this.
But something else was happening. At first he couldn't explain it, it was all
very subtle and it entered his thoughts his thoughts very quietly as torrents of
violent pleasure shot through him. He sucked in his breath quickly and clenched
his teeth. Michelle was at her very best, swallowing him with such ferocious
intensity it hurt. He pulled the bedsheets a little more and he heard it
tear. Just a little more.... oh god, Daz don't stop....
DAZ?!!
His heart turned icy cold as a wave of horror swept through him. He was
breathing heavily in big, deep gulps, but it wasn't only because of the
pleasure. He was frightened out of his wits.
Darren?! DARREN?!
Just what had he been thinking? His girlfriend was giving him head,
not Darren! How could he even think of his name?! Oh shit, I was fantasizing
about him! Oh shit!
But she bringing him closer to climax and he didn't have time to think. Beads
of sweat dripped from every pore of his body. "Mmmm.... oh fuck, fuck,
fuck.... " He was groaning louder now, begging for release. His body was
getting ready for the ecstasy that would soon overwhelm his entire being.
"Oh god........DARREN!"
Darren knocked on the front door several times. No answer. Funny, Daniel's
car was parked prominently outside. He'd definitely be at home then. He knocked
again, louder. Still no answer. The silence around him was unnerving. He
cautiously looked about the quaint, peaceful neighbourhood. Nothing stirred. He
was starting to get worried. What if something's happened to him?
Jonesy?
He pulled the door open and was surprised to see it wasn't locked. Now
this is really scary.... he's always paranoid about security. He gently let
himself him and closed the door behind him. The binds were open, revealing
bright light into the living room. He was contemplating about what to do next,
when he suddenly heard a low shout come from the back of the house.
That's Daniel! He sounds like he's in pain! he thought frantically to
himself as he swiftly moved silently towards the bedroom. The door was open ajar
and another moan echoed throughout the house. Wha.... what was that?! He
stopped dead in his tracks as it slowly penetrated through his brain that this
was not a cry of pain or help. Far from it. His mind was ringing out alarm
bells. Get away from here where you still have the chance! it screamed at
him. NOW!!! But he couldn't will his legs to move out of the hall. The
bedroom was less than a metre away and the moans were now more audible. His head
and heart was pounding so hard against his chest, he feared he could give
himself a stroke right now. It's Daniel.... Daniel with Michelle....
Would he even dare to?
He took a few trembling steps forward before peeking through the slight
opening of the door.
Daniel was clutching the pillows and bedsheets, his face so enrapted with the
moment. Sweet melodic noises were issuing from his lips. Michelle had her face
buried between his legs, her hands caressing the inner thighs. Both didn't
notice another person was watching them from afar.
Darren couldn't move a muscle. He held his breath as he continued watching
Daniel's writhing form. Something in him stirred.... a current of mixed curious
emotions welled up inside him. We twist and turn where angels burn.... like
fallen soldiers we will learn.... So this is what he's like.... He ducked
behind the door.
But that was merely the calm before the storm. What happened next the singer
would never forget.
"Mmmm..... oh fuck, fuck, fuck...." Daniel was letting out his
noises, his eyes shut and his chest heaving up and down. He was ever so
gradually coming. "Oh god..... DARREN!"
Silence. Dead silence.
A soft rustle was heard, as if someone was getting up quickly. Then silence
again.
Shocked. Damned shocked. No, that was an understatement. No word could
ever fit the description of what he was feeling now. Daniel?? DANIEL??!!
the singer mentally screamed to him. What did you just say?! He must
have heard incorrectly. Yes, that was it. There must have been some mistake,
some mistake.... but who was he kidding? He just heard Daniel quite
clearly shriek out his name, for god's sake! But-but- But what?
Obviously he had been thinking about him when she was making him come.
He didn't dare to breathe. I'm not suppose to be here, remember? His
brain was yet again sending out warning signals to his limbs to move, get out of
this place to anywhere, but he couldn't. He had to know what was going to happen
next, no matter what happened.
After what seemed to be like eternity, Michelle broke the silence.
"Daniel?" she whispered in a voice so low, he strained his ears to
catch the soft words. "Daniel, what was that all about?"
Nothing. Absolute, total, nothingness silence. It didn't seem like he was
even breathing.
"Daniel?" She raised her voice slightly. "What is it with you
nowadays? Why-why did you just call out Darren's name?"
"Sorry," came the whispered reply. "It's not what you
think-"
"Then what is it then?!" She sounded angry now, almost to the verge
of tears. "Oh god, my own fiance yells out his best friend's name while I
fuck him shitless.... !" It sounded like she was hastily putting her
clothes back on again. "Is that why you've been so cold and distant to me?
Because you want to shag him now?! IS THAT IT?!" She screamed out the last
words and it rattled against the windows.
"Michy, no, you've got it all wrong!" he was crying out to her
desparately. "Please, listen to me! I-"
"Stay away from me Daniel!" she shouted. "Don't you dare touch
me again! As far as I'm concerned, the wedding's off! I realise now that
everything between us was all a lie! That was it, wasn't it! It was all a
lie!"
"What do you mean?!"
"Oh, I know what I'm talking about." Her voice suddenly became very
low, as if she was confiding something very private to him. "But I'm afraid
you don't, my dear. You see, when Darren left Colby and moved to New York, I
knew the real reason why. Colby figured it out too. It also explained a lot why
he avoided you all that time." She paused. "Do you want to know?"
she asked him in a sweet, malicious voice. She gave out a short laugh.
"God, you're so blind and naive Daniel. Really."
"Michelle-"
"Shut up!" she spat. "I'm going to tell you, whether you like
it or not. I've been so afraid my worst nightmare could actually come true....
but they have, haven't they? So let me finally reveal the truth about Darren
Stanley Hayes!"
At the sound of his name, the singer winced. But he stayed put, he wasn't
going anywhere. Besides, they would hear him if he did.
"Darren loves you," she started in a dull tone, almost sadly.
"He's fallen madly in love with you. That's why he started having those
petty fights with his wife, that's why they had such a rough time last year.
Colby confided in me she initially suspected he was seeing someone else, 'cos he
acted so distant and lovey-dovey all the time.... but soon she discovered it
wasn't just that, it was something a lot more. She realised for the first time
the way he used to look at you, how he'd steal glances at you when you weren't
looking. And it wasn't like he was looking at you as a friend too, she saw there
was something else in his eyes whenever he would glance your way. Then it was
the way he talked to you, his body language, how he'd always sit so close to you
and ever so casually touch your arm here and there in interviews. It was obvious
he was falling for you hard."
Daniel gave out a little gasp as he slowly absorbed the shocking revelations.
But she merely continued.
"So I decided to check it out myself. Though I've seen you two together
heaps of times before, I never really analysed how he would act around you. And
yes, I myself was scared out of my wits when I saw it was true before my very
eyes! I mean, c'mon, straight men don't usually get all touchy to each other
that much! I realised that you never noticed anything yourself, so I kept it
quiet. No-one knew about it either, only Colbs and I, about the attraction
Darren felt towards you."
"No.... " he heard Daniel murmur faintly. "You're lying....
"
"Lying?!" she retorted harshly. "You think I'd actually lie
something as serious as this to you?! Bloody hell, I wish I was
lying!" Her voice was shaking. "Daniel, I love you. I love you more
than anything in this world. And now, this happens! Darren, your business
partner in Savage Garden, is in love with you! How can I get that through your
thick head?! And the worst thing is, you seem to be falling for him
too!"
In a second, she had packed up her things and ran out the room,
heart-renching sobs heard all throughout the house. She blindly wrenched open
the front door and soon disappeared.
Back in the house, Darren was inert as a statue. Whirling thoughts inside his
already chaotic mind was making him feel dizzy and he surpressed a sob. This was
insane! How on earth did Michelle and Colby find out?! He knows now.
He knows and he'll never speak to me again.
He wanted to run. Run to anywhere, who really cares now? Everything was a
mess, huge pile of mess. Whatever occured just then would change them forever
and he knew it. Do you love me too Jonesy?
He was just about to quietly sneak out, when he heard something come from the
room. He stopped and turned. It was Daniel. He was
crying.
Chapter 7
Nothing would ever be the same again. Daniel buried his face in his hands and
let the tears flow easily. Nobody could hear him anyway, so he let his emotions
run wild. Oh god, what I have I done, what have I done.... How could he
accidently scream out Darren's name?!
"I'm so sorry," he whispered through his hot tears. "I'm so
sorry."
A thought suddenly crept into his mind. It numbed the pain for a while.
Huh? What am I thinking.... He couldn't understand. Didn't understand.
There was nothing. His mind went blank, perfectly blank. Very slowly he
got up and and started to dress himself.
After he was done buttoning up his shirt, he strode silently into the
kitchen. The empty house seemed to listen with intent at his every move, daring
him to go further. He paused for a moment in front of the medicine
cabinet.
What are you doing? Dan, just what trick are you trying to pull?
A slow, sad smile spread across his lips. Anything, anything at all to the
numb this pain.... He opened the cupboard and peered inside. Bandaids, bottles
of yucky syrup medicine, cotton balls.... his eyes froze on a small white packet
of pills. Sleeping pills.
.... sometimes this life can get you down.... it's so confusing, there's
so many rules to follow.... and when I feel it, I just run away in my
mind....
Run away. That's what he wanted to do more than anything in the world. Even
if it killed him. Killed? What do you mean, Danny boy?
The blond haired one simply laughed softly to himself and took the pills out.
He sat down at the kitchen table and stared at the warning label. DO NOT TAKE
MORE THAN EIGHT IN 24 HOURS. IF PAIN OR IRRITATION PERSISTS, SEE A DOCTOR.
Pain, hmmm?
***
In the other room, Darren tentatively walked back a few steps, wincing
slightly as the floor painfully creaked beneath him. It was so silent all of a
sudden, a pin dropped would have been heard a mile away.... what was going on,
anyway? What was Daniel doing?
He heard a few shuffles from the kitchen and crept his way there. For the
hundredth time that hour, he was painfully aware his heart was pounding... he
was breathing shallowly, and he felt as if he would pass out any moment now...
suddenly, without any warning, his hand smacked into a vase perched on a coffee
table and it fell on the floor with a thunderous CRASH!
Fuck!!! That had to happen, didn't it?!
Daniel's head popped out of the kitchen in seconds. Darren bit his lip until
he tasted blood as the blond man's eyes widened with shocked recognition.
"D-D-Darren?!" he stuttered, barely able to contain himself. He
couldn't believe his eyes... was he really there?
Darren silently looked down and saw the sharp, fragmented pieces of the
broken vase at his feet. Feeling light-headed, he grabbed the edge of the table
for support. Daniel kept on staring at him, his eyes bloodshot and red, piercing
through his very being. He was shaking slightly, the shock still obvious on his
face.
"What are you doing here?" he finally whispered in a flat tone.
Darren couldn't even guess what he was thinking.
"I-I came to see you. I'm-I'm sorry about the vase, it was an
acci-"
"Never mind about the fucking vase!" Green eyes flashing with life
now, his voice dripped with fury. "Tell me, how long have you been standing
there?" He advanced towards him carefully.
Darren took a hesitant step backwards. "Dan, I'm so sorry, I just came
and I... I ... I just heard..." His voice continued to trail off, unable to
answer properly. ....come stand a little bit closer, breath in and get a bit
higher...
"Heard what, Darren?" He sneered, feeling the hot heat spreading
through his body like fire. "I know you must have been there for a
quite a while... so don't try to hide the fact you heard Michelle's little
speech, didn't you?"
He couldn't answer. He could still taste the blood on his tongue, ignoring
the painful sting on his lip. Of course I heard... I heard everything.
For a long moment, the two men could only stare at each other, each one
daring the other to be the first to react. Inside, Daniel felt so humiliated and
angry, he wanted to throttle Darren that very moment. How could Darren eavesdrop
like that anyway?! How perfectly fantastic this was all going to be!
"GODDAMIT, GET OUT OF HERE!" he screamed suddenly, making Darren
jerk violently in shock. " I don't believe this, go to hell Darren!!!"
But he couldn't stop the flood of tears that burst out, like a dam at it's
breaking point. He hated Darren, he hated him for all that had happened. He
rushed towards him and slapped him hard across the face, wanting him to feel the
pain as much as he was.
"Oww!" Darren yelped as the first blow hit him. He reached his hand
up to his face and with his other arm held Daniel's arm firmly. "What the
hell was that for?!"
"You!" He slapped him again, harder this time. Darren's face was
streaked with red lashes, but he still didn't fight back. "Don't you know,
I have feelings for you!" He stopped abruptly. That last sentence wasn't
meant to come out, but it did and now it was too late to take it back. Realising
the horror of it, he stepped back quickly, as if to protect himself.
"You do?" The singer whispered after a moment. When the guitarist
didn't answer, he glance past him into the kitchen. There he spotted on the
table, the packet of sleeping pills and little round white tablets scattered
around. Immediately it clicked in his brain about what Daniel was about to do.
He blinked and turned towards him in shock.
"How could you even contemplate on such a stupid thing?!" he spat,
tears springing into his eyes as he thought what might have happened if he
hadn't showed up. "Dan, do you mean to tell me you,"- he nodded
sharply towards the table - "were thinking of taking all of
those?!"
Daniel didn't say anything. He stared at the singer menacingly. Friggin'
hell, just get out of here, why don't you?!
"Daniel! Answer me, damn you!"
"I don't have to if I don't want to!"
"For crying out loud, what were you thinking?" He
unexpectedly came slowly forward, tears streaking down his cheeks unshamely.
"Dan, if you-if you leave me, I'd never forgive myself!"
"Leave you?!"
"Yes, and you know exactly what I mean!"
Again the two men stopped speaking and continued staring at one another, the
electrifying tension between them escalating. Darren narrowed his eyes.
"I care about you, that's all," he said softly.
"Care, eh?" Daniel looked at him as if he was poison. "Is it
true then?"
"What's true?"
"Don't play dumb with me, Darren. You know what I'm talking
about."
He sounded so calm about it. Darren practically dared himself to meet his
eyes, which were staring blankly back at him. Dan sure knows how to hide his
emotions. He abruptly turned his head away.
Yes, he wanted so much to say to him, yes it's true, it's all true...
I'm head over heels in love with you but it hurts 'cos you don't feel the same
and-and-
"Daz, are you alright?"
"Huh?"
"You're not answering. Why don't you look at me?"
Damn you. Damn, damn you for making this so hard.
Daniel sat down on the sofa, his eyes still locked onto Darren; what was
going through his mind anyway? He couldn't even look at him anymore. But
whatever happened, he was going to come out of this with some answers... at
least. But is that what you really want, Dan? Come on, don't kid yourself.
You're actually anticipating this, aren't you?
He suddenly realized Darren was now staring at him in the most oddest way. It
was as if he was probing into his very mind, his bare sould naked for him to
delve into....
"Dar-"
"Shhh. Don't talk." He was ever so slowly walking towards him.
Daniel's heart quickened in pace as he looked up to see him standing over him.
The light overhead casted a soft, luminated glow around his head, making it look
like an angelic little halo. His large, colorless eyes meet with his, and
without meaning to, he shivered under his look. Huh? What IS he doing to
me?
As if reading his mind, Darren bent over and gently kissed him directly on
the lips. Oh god.... It was the most beautiful experience. Tingles of
excitement rushed through his spine as Daniel, who first tried to turn away,
responded back to him and opened his lips to let him enter.
Daniel was oblivious to everything but this. Darren's mouth locked onto is,
his tongue meeting with his; it was nearly all too much for him to handle. He
could feel his entire body responding, tensing, as Darren softly sat down next
to him and engulfed him in an embrace, his lips still on his.
Finally, they had to break away to take a breath. Both a little breathless,
they shyly looked back at each other. Darren placed both hands on Daniel's
shoulders and leaned against him once more.
"I'm sorry. I couldn't help myself." He was carefully observing
him. How was he going react?
But he needn't worried. Daniel, still a little flustered, smiled faintly back
at him. "No, don't be sorry." He took his hand and delicately rested
his fingers on his lips. He kissed them softly. There's no turning back now,
Jonesy. Goodbye Michy... forever.
"You don't know how long I've waited for this..." Darren stroked
the sides of his face tenderly. "To have you here with me, being with me...
kissing me..." He stopped and looked at him. "But you really haven't
said whether it's what you want too. Do you-do you like me too?"
"Like you?" Daniel laughed softly, pulling the singer closer.
"Sure I like you." And with that, he pulled him over for another
kiss.
This time, the kiss was even more sweeter. Daniel had never kissed another
being this passionately before, the hot electricity between them intensifying
with every second. Is it because I've never really has such strong feelings
as this before? Give in, give in.... that's what his mind was commanding him
to do... succumb to the passion, the lust, the ecstasy....
"Wait." He pulled away suddenly.
Darren shrunk back a little, as if he slapped him. "Yes, Dan?" he
asked tentatively, afraid of what he might hear.
"Let's not rush. I'm-you're- Look, I don't want to lose your friendship,
of all things..." He lowered his eyes. I want this to be right for both
of us...
He seemed to think it over and demurely nodded. "Of course Jonesy."
But inside, he was scared. Just when things seemed to be going perfect... was
this his way of showing he wasn't right? He had to tell him the truth first.
"But I think you should know something" he said slowly. Daniel's
intent gaze was making him nervous, but there was no looking back now.
"I think I already know what it is."
"Yes, but I still want to tell you personally." He paused.
"I'm-I'm in love with you Daniel. I think I always had, but never realised
it until... until early last year. I tried to keep my feelings to myself, but
working with you 24hours a day, seven days a week was all too much. And, and...
well, I guess Michelle's told you all the rest..."
"Yes, she has," he finally answered after a long pause. Sighing, he
gave him a small smile. "So what's gonna happen now, Mr. Hayes? You, in
love with me, and I'm... I'm..." His smile and voice faltered as he
realised he couldn't finish the sentence. Darren was looking at him
questioningly, beckoning him to go on.
I think I'm falling for you too.
"Dan? You alright?"
He jerk his head. "Uh yeah, sure, I'm fine." He shook his head
slightly.
Maybe one day, Dazza, my dark-haired one, one day we'll be together... but
not now. It's too risky for me; I'm not as strong, you see and if anything
happens, it can really tear me apart... please understand, I'm just not ready.
I've got too much things to think about. Not now.
He glanced at his watch. "Geez, I've gotta go. Oliver's expecting me to
come over to his place in five minutes."
"Sure." Darren tried to smile back, but it hurt. "I'll leave
too. I guess I'll see ya later, eh?"
"Yeah," He stood up and offered his hand to help him up. Darren
politely refused and got up himself. He couldn't wait to bolt out the door.
Daniel had just rejected him, he could see that clearly enough. It doesn't
take a scientist to figure that one out.
At the door, the two looked at each once more.
"Bye Daz."
"See ya, Jonesy."
Chapter 8
*2 months later....*
"Jonesy?"
"Hmmmm?"
"Are you sure you want to do this?"
Daniel smiled and kissed him on the forehead. "Of course....I want it
more than anything in the world."
They were at Daniel's house, and he didn't want to wait any longer.
"I want to make love to you now," he continued, holding his lover
tenderly in his arms. "I love you."
Darren beamed up at him, a picture of pure adoration in his eyes. "I
love you too."
Still smiling, Daniel led him towards the bedroom. Darren pushed him onto the
bed and fell on top of him soon after. They were eyelash-to-eyelash,
cheek-to-cheek, nose-to-nose and lips-to-lips. It was now the kissing game, and
for a while it was nothing but the union of tongues and mouths. Soon, Darren,
who was still lying on top of Daniel, broke away and slowly started to unbutton
his shirt while Daniel slipped off his. Seeing Daniel looking so alluring
without his shirt on, he bent over and nibbled at his ear, whispering "My
Jonesy, my love" every now and again, feeling his pants being taken off
carefully by him. Daniel felt his own jeans and boxers being pulled off and it
wasn't long before he was completely naked. Darren was still in his underpants,
and he made his way down to Daniel's flat stomach, leaving a wet trail of
kisses.
Daniel's overheated body was on fire now, especially between his legs where
Darren was breathing oh so, so close. He moaned softly. "Oh please..."
he whispered, indicating he needed some sort of release from the
tension."Ohhhh...." Darren's kisses were getting nearer and it almost
hurt to not be released now. He sucked in his breath quickly as he felt the wet,
timid flicker of tongue torch the fire between his aching legs.
"Oh god...oh god!" he yelped Darren started to swallow him whole.
He gripped at the bedsheets, his body jerking uncontrollably as torrents of
pleasure shot through every cell in his body. Darren was desirously devouring
him, taking him to the back of his throat. "Ohhhhh.....mmmm..." Daniel
couldn't stop himself, he was writhing relentlessly as his hands grabbed onto
anything that was stable. As Darren continued to suck him with ferocious speed,
his muscles tightened, getting ready for the final moment. The singer glanced up
at the guitarist for a second and grinned at the sight of him at his mercy.
Daniel started to groan louder now as Darren slowly pushed him to the edge.
Nothing in the world could compare to this, even sex with Michelle didn't even
come close.
"Shit...oh god, shit shit shit!" he cried out as the ecstatic
moment finally came. His body was surrending to the passion, and beads of hot
sweat broke out from every pore in his body. "Don't stop....don't
stop..." he panted, rolling his eyes back as the intensity worsened. For a
while he couldn't move, it seemed like he was paralysed.
Darren swallowed every last drop of Daniel's liquid then moved up and kissed
him on each nipple. He looked exhausted and ready to fall asleep any minute now,
but nevertheless he flashed him one of his sexy grins and sat up. This time, he
flipped Darren onto his back and breathing heavily, rolled on top of him. As he
locked his tongue into his once again, Darren could feel silky smooth hands
sliding down to between his legs, caressing his inner thighs lovingly. Now it
was his turn to moan and he didn't waste a minute.
"Mmmmm....oh..." he breathed as Daniel's skillful hands started to
fondle him in the most loving way. He suppressed a gasp as he felt his hard and
aroused flesh being stroked and kneaded. He gripped onto Daniel's sturdy
back.
"Christ....shit, god dammit..." he was crying out meaningless and
useless things, but it didn't matter. Nothing existed anymore now, only Daniel
and him becoming one at last. Daniel's magic fingers were working more quickly
and his melodic cries filled the house. Finally, he came, and he gave out a
piercing scream, his damp sweaty skin mingling with Daniel's. Gasping for
breath, he closed his eyes and moaned softly to himself. Never before had he
felt so damned satisfied.
Daniel rolled off him and lay next to him, both trying to catch their breath.
A part of him still couldn't believe he was actually the one who made Darren
scream like that...but he had no regrets, only the ecstasy and pure happiness
that he was here with Darren, the only one he had ever truly loved.
