We met a few years ago and have since begun an unconscious collaborative effort to reduce unnecessary devices (like the microwave and tv) and practices (like buying processed food and driving everywhere). Somewhere between the first cast iron skillet and the butter churn the idea for Low Hanging Fruit was born. What started as a personal drive to remove plastic from our lives and replace it with items made from more sustainable or durable materials, is becoming an outward-looking venture with eyes on making some of the items and ideas we love available to more people.

We spend our time cooking and gardening and sharpening knives. We've found that cast iron is easier to clean than teflon, that you can grow a hundred kinds of tomatoes that all taste different, and that half a lemon wrapped in waxed cotton will stay fresh and juicy for a month in the fridge.

Somehow we seem to have prioritized "homemade" over convenient and easy, but we tend to like it more when we do it ourselves. It's made us more appreciative of our resources, and more laid back, as we're finding out that everything takes time and can't often be rushed.
